Dr. Amany Asfour

Dr. Amany Asfour graduated the Faculty of Medicine – Cairo University and had her Master Degree & M.D. degree in Pediatrics. In her academic career, she was a Lecturer of Pediatrics at the National Research Center of Egypt.

She joined the private sector when she was a student at the Faculty of Medicine. In few years she was able to establish a company for Medical equipments with more than 30 brands.

Her interests were not limited to establishing only her private business, soon she realized the importance of setting up an organization targeting at Economic Women Empowerment & Young Women Entrepreneurship Promotion. As a result she established the Egyptian Business Women Association in 1995 with the objectives of promoting young generations of Women Entrepreneurs & giving guidance to women business owners of Small & Medium enterprises.

She is working on the African, Arab and Mediterranean regions and on an international level. Due to the importance of civil society organizations as a partner of development, Dr. Asfour was elected the Chairwoman of Human Resources, Science & Technology Cluster in the AU - ECOSOCC (Economic, Social and Cultural Council) of African Union .

Dr. Asfour also holds the following positions: President of the Mediterranean Congress for Business & Professional Women, which she has been organizing since 2001 for 9 years successively; Chairwoman of the FEMCOM, Federation of Business Women Associations in the COMESA Region (Common Market for Eastern & Southern African) due to her commitment towards empowering women of Africa & establishing projects and marketing of products for women entrepreneurs and women owners of small & medium enterprises in the African continent; founder and President of the African Organization for African Heritage and Culture.

She believes in the importance of Scientific Research & Technology for development and she is the Secretary General of the African Society for Scientific Research & Technology where her target is also promotion of Women in Science & Technology.

On the other hand, on the social level, Dr. Asfour believes in the social responsibility of Business & Professional Women who should contribute to the social development of their communities. She is a member of many social organizations supporting Women & children with special needs.

Dr. Asfour has been granted many awards from Egypt, Africa and other Arab countries.

She participated as a debate generator at LEADER SHE International Forum 2010, organized in Vienna.
